WPC Energy Excellence Awards for Young Professionals

In recognition of the important contribution by Young Professionals to the energy industry, WPC Energy rewards the best young authors from the Congress Technical Programme. These are selected from the best abstracts submitted by young professionals under 35.

With the issue of attracting and retaining young people in the oil, gas and energy industry a key concern for the whole sector and a focus area of WPC Energy this special Award recognises the best young presenter of a paper or poster at the Congress under 35 years.  Highlighting our strong commitment to encourage young professionals to participate in the WPC Energy Congress.

The Dewhurst Award

The Dewhurst Award recognises exceptional leadership, pioneering innovation, and a lifetime of outstanding contributions to the advancement and development of the energy industry. The award is named after Thomas Dewhurst who organised the first WPC Energy Congress (formerly the World Petroleum Congress) in 1933.

Occidental

Vicki Hollub, President and CEO of Occidental since 2016, was selected as the recipient of the Dewhurst Award. This distinction, the highest honour conferred by WPC Energy, celebrates her exemplary leadership and significant contributions to the global energy sector. The award will be formally presented during the 25th WPC Energy Congress, taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 26–30 April 2026. Vicki Hollub is not only the 13th awardee but also the first woman in the 92-year history of WPC Energy to receive this prestigious recognition.
