Gholamali Rahimi is a leading expert in energy economics with over two decades of distinguished research at Institute for International Energy Studies (IIES), where he currently heads the Energy Economics Department and serves as a faculty member. His expertise centers on natural gas and LNG markets, energy sector modeling, petroleum product analysis, and energy outlooks.
Rahimi holds an M.Sc. in Energy Economics & Marketing and is a Ph.D. candidate in Energy Economics. His career at IIES spans senior analytical roles to leadership positions, including Head of Knowledge Management. He possesses extensive experience in energy modeling, particularly with the EFOM-ENV, LEAP and MESSAGE systems, and has led pivotal projects on global LNG markets, gas pricing mechanisms, and energy diplomacy for Iran's Ministry of Petroleum.
An acclaimed researcher, Rahimi was recognized as Iran's national-level "Superior Researcher" in the Oil Ministry three times (2010, 2013, 2014). His scholarly impact includes authoring 16 books in Persian on topics ranging from LNG technology to gas pricing, translating key industry texts, and publishing over 30 papers in international journals and conference proceedings, such as the World Gas Conference and Asia Energy Cooperation Forum. Also He has held an OPEC Visiting Research Fellowship in 2016.
