Mohammad Ali Emadi

.Dr. Mohammad Ali Emadi is recognized as one of the prominent figures in Iran’s oil and gas industry, with more than three decades of valuable experience in management, research, technology and executive positions. After many years of service at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), he has held several key roles and contributed significantly to the development of new technologies and the enhancement of efficiency in the country’s petroleum sector.He completed his higher education with a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Surrey in 2004, providing a strong academic foundation for his broad scientific and managerial responsibilities. From 2000 to 2014, Dr. Emadi served as Director of Research and Technology at NIOC, while also initiated and leading the Institute of Enhanced Oil and Gas Recovery for more than a decade. During this period, he successfully directed the joint development projects of the IOR Zagros oil fields in cooperation with Norway’s Statoil, a notable example of international collaboration in the industry.

Dr. Emadi also has 17 years of experience as a member of the NIOC Board of Directors and more than a decade of service as Iran’s representative in the World Petroleum Congress (WPC) Committee Program (CPC). In addition to his executive roles, he has been actively engaged in professional societies. Since 2009, he has served as President of the Iranian Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and EAGE Iranian branch. He has also been Secretary-General of the Iranian Petroleum Institute, the oldest petroleum society in Iran, since 2020, and in 2024 he assumed the position of Chairman of the Board of the Iranian Society of Petroleum Engineers.Throughout his career, Dr. Emadi has been recognized many times for his research and managerial achievements. He was selected as the top research and development director among Iranian ministries and executive organizations in 2008 and 2012, and in 2014 he was honored as the outstanding executive director of Iran’s petroleum industry.
