Abdullah Faisal Al Marshed

Professor

Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), Kuwait

Dr Almarshed graduated in 2005 from the School of Chemical Engineering at Kuwait University. He subsequently got an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering in 2010 and 2016, respectively. He has worked for the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) since 2006, and he was subsequently promoted to Research Associate (instructor) in 2010 and Associate Research Scientist (Assistant Professor) in 2016. Dr Almarshed research interests span broad areas of chemical and petroleum engineering. During this period of research engagement at KISR, he developed even more interest in transport phenomena, phase behavior and thermodynamics, fluid properties, complex fluid, Equation of state, experimental design, data analysis, enhanced heavy oil recovery, upgrade of heavy oil in situ, design of oil production facilities and gas processing. For the last six years of research engagement at KISR, Dr.Almarshed secured a total funding of around 400,000 KWD to sponsor his research. He joined the University of Birmingham in 2015 to date as a visiting lecturer (Assistant professor) in the chemical engineering department. During this time, Dr. Almarshed taught and developed a process design and manufacturing technology course related to food processing (postgraduate Level). In 2018, he joined the Australian University (AU) as an adjunct faculty (Assistant professor) in the petroleum engineering department. During their academic engagement at AU, Dr. Almarshed delivered several core courses: fluid mechanics, advanced process simulation (project-based learning), process control and optimization, and engineering economy (Undergraduate Level).

Moreover, Dr. Almarshed joined the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) as a visiting Assistant professor in early 2024. Dr. Almarshed has supervised many Master's and bachelor's students (20+) from different countries (around 15 countries). He wants to continue his research and teaching to increase his knowledge and experience further and satisfy his curiosity.
