Transportation is greatly affected by extreme weather conditions. Indeed, extreme heat, heavy rainfall, wildfires, and floods impact transport infrastructure in particular, and the transportation process in general. Extreme climate changes are expected to intensify and become more frequent in the future, leading to harmful effects on transportation. This article briefly summarizes the correlation between climate and the main modes of transport, based on a quick review of recent key academic papers. The results confirm that extreme weather conditions disrupt transport systems at all levels, leading to negative consequences.
