Naif Makki is a senior energy leader with over 12 years of experience driving renewable energy growth, infrastructure development, and industrial localization in Saudi Arabia. He currently serves as Director General for Renewable Energy Planning & Delivery (A) at the Ministry of Energy, where he oversees a US$50 billion program comprising more than 57 GW of renewable capacity and 42 GWh of energy storage. He has spearheaded landmark initiatives, including structuring Saudi Arabia’s first utility-scale energy storage PPP, negotiating innovative joint-venture models that reduced financing costs and achieving the world’s lowest solar tariff (1.04 ¢/kWh). His work bridges policy, finance, and technology—partnering with sovereign stakeholders, investors, and industry to align national industrial policy with global competitiveness. Naif holds a Master of Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from KFUPM.
