Lu Ruquan

Dr. Lu Ruquan is Executive Director and President of the Economics & Technology Research Institute of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC-ETRI), Executive Deputy Director General of CNPC Research Center of China Top Think Tanks, Executive Director of the China Society of Macroeconomics, and a Council Member of the China Reform and Opening-up Forum. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), and is a professorate senior economist and a scholar of international energy strategy.

His main research areas include international relations and area studies (with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa), international energy geopolitics, corporate strategy and management reform, and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

In recent years, Dr. Lu has focused on the development and operation of national high-level think tanks, leading major think-tank research programs and the drafting of policy reports. He has directed more than 50 key research projects at the national and provincial/ministerial levels and organized flagship annual events such as the International Energy Development Summit Forum. He is a four-time winner of the First Prize of the National Award for Enterprise Management Modernization Innovation Achievements, and has authored or co-authored nearly ten books and some 300 articles on international relations, energy geopolitics, strategy, and management.
