
Ivan Soucek

Ivan graduated in chemical engineering and started his professional career as an operations technologist at Kaučuk Kralupy, where he worked his way up to head of the strategic planning department. Among his job in Kaučuk was also negotiating with potential foreign partners. In 1995 Ivan moved to Unipetrol, where he was involved in research, development and investment and became a member of the Board of Directors till 1999. Then he moved to refining business starting at the position of General Manager of Koramo Kolín and later JV of Česká rafinérská a.s. which he left in 2011. In 2012-2015 he was managing preparation of large refinery project abroad (DCU). Since 2016, Ivan has been a director of the Association of Chemical Industry of the Czech Republic focusing on support of chemical industry in light of carbon neutrality, competitiveness and resiliency.
After graduating from University, he studied at the University of Economics in Prague, completed post gradual course of the DePaul University Chicago, course of production management in Tokyo, and a sectoral economics and management course in Scuola E. Mattie in Milano. Finally he successfully completed his PhD studies at the University of Chemistry and Technology, department of Economics and Management in Prague.
He continues to teach at University of Chemistry and Technology and is the co-author of ten books on strategic planning and investment decision making and more than a hundred articles and conference papers so far (incl. WPC congress).
