Serikkali Brekeshev was born on 14 October 1972 in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan. He graduated with a degree in Oil and Gas Field Development and qualified as a mining engineer.
He began his career at the Kazakhstan-Russian Trading House joint venture. In 1997, he worked in Aktau’s Tax Department and at Mangistaumunaigas. From 1998 to 2006, he held field engineering and management positions at KarakudukMunai.
From 2007 to 2014, Brekeshev held senior positions in Kazakhstan’s energy and oil and gas ministries, including Director of the Gas Industry Development Department at the Ministry of Oil and Gas. From 2014 to 2015, he was Deputy General Director of BNG Ltd. Between 2015 and 2020, he held several technical and executive roles at KazTransGas.
From 2020 to 2023, he served as Vice Minister and Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In February 2023, he became Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas.
On 27 July 2026, Serikkali Brekeshev was elected Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association.
